Woman’s Condom in Top 50 contest

Today, Kimberly Whipkey of our Woman’s Condom team invites you to check out voting for the top 50 inspiring solutions to improve the lives of women.

On Thursday, March 8—International Women’s Day—the global advocacy organization Women Deliver will recognize their top 50 inspiring solutions that improve the lives of women. The public gets to decide the winners through an online voting competition—but hurry. Voting ends at 6 p.m. EST today.

Included among the 125 finalists is the Woman’s Condom—an innovative prevention technology developed by PATH and our partner CONRAD with input from women in several countries.

The Woman’s Condom is designed to expand options for female-initiated protection from unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. After years of development and clinical study, the Woman’s Condom is just beginning to reach women. Dahua Medical Apparatus Company of Shanghai—PATH’s licensee and manufacturer of the product—is working toward making the Woman’s Condom commercially available in China. PATH and our partners are also working to bring the Woman’s Condom to sub-Saharan Africa.

The Woman’s Condom is poised to deliver on its potential to improve reproductive health for women. Your vote can make a difference in raising awareness. To vote for the Woman’s Condom and other great ideas, visit the Women Deliver Facebook page.
