A plan to beat two childhood killers

Pneumonia and diarrhea work well together, and to beat them, we must, too.

That’s why we’re celebrating the release today of the Integrated Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of Pneumonia and Diarrhoea from the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The plan provides the latest strategies to reduce death and illness from two diseases that together kill more than 2 million young children each year.

To be successful, we need to prevent disease and treat children who do become ill with tools including vaccines, safe water and effective sanitation, and proper nutrition. We must also tackle the problem in less tangible ways—by engaging players at every level and from every discipline in putting the solutions in place.

What’s PATH doing to help? Our President and CEO Steve Davis discusses the integrated plan, and our work on diarrheal disease and pneumonia, today on the blog of our sister website, Defeatdd.
