Michael Elliott was a dear friend, a wonderful colleague, and a tireless advocate for the world’s most vulnerable people. While we mourn his passing today, the world is a better place for his work in addressing poverty and inequities in all corners of the globe.

Michael led with a clear vision for what the world could be and brought millions of people along with him to demand the changes needed to realize that vision. His compassion, intelligence, and spirit made him a strong and successful activist. I admired his leadership at ONE as well as across our community to attain a collective impact that was greater than anything we could have achieved on our own.

His optimism, wisdom, and wry sense of humor made him an unforgettable friend and colleague. I will miss him greatly—in meetings around the globe together sharing ideas, laughs, and passion—but know that his strong legacy will live on through the dedication of the champions and leaders that he mentored.

My thoughts are with his family and friends, and our colleagues at ONE.
